Form: Fabricated as flat optical windows or simple lenses (planar-concave/convex).
2. Defining Physical & Optical Properties:
High Infrared Transmission: All three materials offer superior transparency in the critical LWIR atmospheric window, allowing thermal radiation to pass through with minimal loss.
Durability & Environmental Resistance: Engineered to be chemically resistant and withstand harsh outdoor conditions, including moisture and abrasion. ZnSe often receives a durable diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating for protection.
Low Dispersion & Aberration: Provide clear, undistorted thermal imaging by minimizing optical errors in the IR spectrum.
